Skoglund Spotlight Students
I am happy to announce this month’s Skoglund Spotlight Students. I received a number of nominations from staff members and we have three well deserving young ladies receiving the honor for this month.
Gloria Dominguez
Our first Spotlight Student is Gloria Dominguez. She is a 6th grade student and was nominated by Mr. Ham. Mr. Ham stated in his nomination that Gloria is a class leader and is always willing to step forward and help other students. I have noticed whenever I see Gloria in the hallway she has a smile on her face! She has done a great job as a 6th grader and has represented her class well. Her behavior and attendance are exemplary and her good grades represent her hard work and dedication in the classroom.

Alexis Sanchez-Duran
We actually have two 6th grade students this month receiving the honor of Skoglund Spotlight Students. The second 6th grader is Alexis Sanchez- Duran. She was nominated by Mrs. Atencio for her willingness to take new students under her wings and help them out. It isn’t easy being the new kid at school and Alexis has welcomed incoming students to Skoglund and helped ease the transition to a new school. Mrs. Atencio said that Alexis has taken several new kids under her wings and volunteered to help them the first few days. Alexis has gone out of her way to help others. Mrs. Atencio said that having Alexis in class is like having another teacher in class and she greatly appreciates her helpfulness.
Roxana Armijo
Our final Spotlight Student, Roxana Armijo, is an 8th grader and was nominated by several teachers including Mrs. Ruggles, Mrs. Martinez, Mrs. Donaldson, and Mrs. Ramos. All of the teachers spoke about how Roxi is a conscientious student. Mrs. Martinez said she is the definition of what we want a student to be: inquisitive, hard-working, eager to complete tasks correctly and “teachable.” Mrs. Donaldson echoed those sentiments and stated that Roxana comes to class daily with a smile on her face, ready to learn and help struggling students. Mrs. Ruggles mentioned how far Roxana has come in the last few years, in regards to her learning. She talked about her respect and how she is a role model for other students. Mrs. Ruggles said it best when she said, “I believe Roxana exemplifies the kind of students we are so proud of in Center Schools.”
Way to go ladies! True Skoglund Spotlight Students! Thanks for representing our school in such a positive manner! We are proud of you.
