Viking Cheers! Focus on the Fabulous!
What a great
way to start the school year! We had an
amazing first day of school! Kids were
greeted at the door with a red carpet, music, and our fabulous staff! After they reported to their first hours,
kids were escorted to the auditorium for a motivational assembly! The Chief of Police welcomed the students
back, we had a fun review of the rules and expectations of the year, and then
we had an awesome motivational speaker that got the kids amped up for the
year! After the assembly, kids headed
back to third hour and teachers were ready with some fun team building
activities. At lunch time, we had a
barbeque on the lawn and jammed out to some great tunes with the band Old School. Kids and teachers danced and enjoyed the
music! After lunch, the afternoon was
taken up with some more team building, fun activities. The first day of school was truly a
celebration! Kids feel the excitement
and energy of our staff and know that we are happy to be back at it! What a great message to send to our
students. We are celebrating their
return and the start of another amazing year!
It’s evident in all that we do that we are all committed to excellence in all we do!!
A big thanks to Shirley Atencio and Katrina Ruggles for putting everything together. The staff t-shirts were a big hit once again. Thanks too, to our super staff for having such a positive start to the year and everyone’s willingness to jump in and participate. It was fun to see Ms. Donaldson dancing and Ms. Ruybal getting into all the games! Way to go Skoglund staff! You’re AWESOME!!!

Rewind
Tuesday we were busy with all the first day of school festivities. Wednesday I attended an IEP and then headed to Alamosa for the middle school Athletic Director’s Meeting. Thursday, I met with the tutoring team to make plans for this year’s tutoring program. We will start the tutoring program this coming week. Thursday night I got to watch our football team in action in Del Norte. It was their first game of the season and they did an amazing job defeating the Tigers by 42 points! Friday, Mr. Jones, Mrs. Vance and I met to make some minor adjustments to the lunch schedule to ensure that the whole
process runs as smoothly as possible. I also met with Lori Cooper and we made preparations to start our new reading component for the TI classes, Reading Plus. Friday afternoon I got into a few classrooms to see how things were
going. Saturday, I spent the morning at BOCES for an induction meeting. Our cross country team ran in their first meet of the season in Alamosa at Cattails golf course.

Forward Focus
Monday morning I will be working with Rosa Ramos in the TI Reading classes as we begin implementation of the Reading Plus part of the program. I will also finish reviewing lesson plans and do a few walkthroughs. Tuesday, our volleyball girls will play their first game of the year in Alamosa and on Thursday they will host Centauri. Our football team will travel to Monte
Vista on Tuesday. On Thursday I will be meeting with Adams State and the Boettcher representative to discuss our
involvement in that program. Thursday afternoon our football team will host Alamosa. We will have our middle school class meetings and elections on Friday and that afternoon our cross country team will travel to compete in Durango.
