Focus on the Fabulous
Our priority is our students and our purpose is to increase academic achievement for ALL students. As we wrap up our first fabulous quarter of the year, I believe that once again we are off to a great start in making that happen. I just want to acknowledge the hard work and dedication of our staff! Each week of this quarter I have seen quality planning, instruction, and assessment taking place in classrooms. Teachers have been intentional with planning quality activities for our students that actively engage them in the learning process. Getting into classrooms as often as possible, I see that all that hard work is paying off. Kids are focused and learning. Teachers are reflecting on their lessons, making adjustments as needed, and providing kids with the necessary support so that every student can achieve and be successful. Having the opportunity to visit other districts and share ideas, it reconfirms for me that we are moving in the right direction. Our commitment to excellence in all we do, everyday, reminds me that we need to keep our expectations high as we continuously refine and improve the educational experience for our students.
Rewind
This week I spent a lot of time collaborating with administrators from various school districts to share ideas and learn from each other. Monday our administrative team met with Ellicot for an Administration Partnership meeting. We reviewed what we have been doing here in Center, shared some of our successes, and then took time to visit classrooms together. On Tuesday, I spent the morning in Del Norte at the secondary principals PLC. Del Norte shared with us what they have been focusing on in their district and we conducted walkthroughs in their buildings. Tuesday afternoon our football team played their last game in Sargent and our volleyball teams played in the first round of tournaments. That evening I sat on the interview committee for the After School Program supervisor position. Wednesday morning I was able to get some work done in my office related to my athletic director responsibilities, academic vocabulary and other odds and ends. I also went on a few instructional walks with Mr. Welsh and other staff members. Thursday, I had the opportunity to get in another round of walkthroughs. Friday, I spent the morning in Centauri watching our volleyball teams compete in the end of the year tournament. Unfortunately, both teams lost on Friday and that ended their seasons. That afternoon, I attended the SLV Administration PLC at BOCES where SB 191 was the focus of conversation. Our cross country team competed at the end of the year meet hosted by Sargent at the Monte Vista golf course.
