Focus on the Fabulous
Parent Teacher conferences were a success. Teachers had the opportunity to meet with parents and family members on Wednesday and Thursday evenings. We had a good turnout, with some teachers reporting meeting with 60-70 families between the two nights. I had the opportunity to meet with parents during this time and share student data. I asked students to bring parents and family members by my station so that I could review TCAP and NWEA data and make sure parents understood what the results of these tests meant. It’s important that we clearly communicate our goals with our families and ensure they understand all the hard work we are doing to make sure that their students are achieving and having success.
Rewind
This past week was short but busy! Tuesday I spent the majority of the day meeting with students in RTI meetings. These meetings are designed to help us look at the specific needs of individual students and make sure that we have plans in place for them to be successful at every level. Tuesday afternoon, I conducted some instructional walks with Ms. Banning, Mr. Hagan, and Mrs. Ruggles. Our middle school basketball team competed in their first games of the season this week. They had a rough start against Sargent for their season opener, but rebounded well and both the 7th and 8th grade teams had wins on Thursday night. Wednesday, I attended my monthly Athletic Directors’ Meeting in Alamosa. We discussed the basketball season and reviewed dates for Academic Contests. Wednesday and Thursday our teachers held Parent Teacher Conferences from 3:30- 7:30 pm. We had a solid turnout and teachers reported visiting with up to 70 plus families over the two nights. Because of the long days our teachers put in with teaching and PT conferences, we had Friday off!
