Focus on the Fabulous
On Friday, we held our Skoglund Awards Assembly for the first semester. We had the opportunity to recognize students who have been focused and working hard the first half of the year. Congratulations to all of our students who received awards and are fulfilling our core belief of being committed to excellence in all they do, everyday! This month’s Skoglund Spotlight students were recognized at the assembly and our recipients this month include Aaliyah Garcia, Timothy Paiz, and Esmerelda Guzman. These three students were nominated by their teachers for demonstrating outstanding work ethic and great behavior. They are true representatives of what it means to be a Center Viking!
Rewind
We had another busy week. Monday, I spent the morning reviewing lesson plans and giving feedback. I also began meeting with teachers to conduct mid-year evaluations. The afternoon, Mr. Jones and I reviewed applications and made phone calls to set up interviews for the Behavior Specialist position. Tuesday started early with a Skoglund staff meeting. At the staff meeting we reviewed the
Skoglund Action plan and discussed specific areas of focus for the second half of the semester. We also had the chance to review data from winter NWEA scores and quarterly assessments. I had a student meeting to discuss re-enrollment of a student. I continued mid-year evaluations. Teachers will be formulating goals based on the feedback and conversations from the evaluation process. That afternoon I supervised our girls’ basketball game against Centauri. Wednesday morning started early with our BLT meeting. We discussed pertinent issues and made plans for this week’s PLC. I spent the rest of the day in RTI meetings and mid-year evaluations. Evaluations took up the majority of the day on Thursday. That afternoon our middle school girls traveled to Sargent for competition. Friday we celebrated
January birthdays before school. I was part of the interview committee for the Behavior Specialist position throughout the day. We had an excellent pool of candidates and interviewed six people for the position. The committee will be recommending to the Board that Jose Chavez be hired for the position. Friday afternoon we held our middle school Awards Assembly in the auditorium.

Forward Focus
Monday I will be reviewing plans and scheduling walk throughs for the week. I have several RTIs
scheduled throughout the week and I will be meeting with Lori to review data. Tuesday I will be meeting with PEBC and HELMs representatives to discuss our involvement in both of those programs. Wednesday will be an early release. The morning the kids will focus on ICAP activities and in the afternoon staff will be meeting in PLCs. On Thursday, our students will be taking their writing assessments in Language Arts classes. Our middle school girls will have home games on Tuesday and Thursday, competing against Sangre de Cristo and Centennial. Saturday I will be helping out with the district History Fair day at Adams State.
