Viking Cheers!! Focus on the Fabulous!!
We had a successful week of testing thanks to the hard work and dedication of all of our staff! Thanks to everybody for their professional attitudes and willingness to pitch in and help wherever needed throughout the week as we administered TCAP.
A big thanks especially to Marsha and Deb in the office! They did a fabulous job of keeping everything organized during the week. They distributed test books, manuals, and supplies. They made sure the right kids were in the right rooms, kept track of who was absent and who needed to be tested, and made arrangements to get all the make ups done on Monday. They kept things running smoothly throughout the week. I appreciate all they do behind the scenes to ensure we get everything taken care of! Thank you ladies! You are the best and we couldn’t do it without you!
I also appreciate Soyla and Cruzita for coming in to get the make ups done over Spring Break. With their help we were able to get all of our students tested! Thank you Cruzita for making phone calls and hunting down our students who were MIA and making sure they got their testing completed. You can’t hide from Cruzita!!

Rewind
We started the week of TCAP testing with our kick off assembly. Mr. Jones lost a bet due to our middle/high students doing an awesome job on CSAP last year, and had his hair colored Viking Blue! During the assembly we handed out checks to all the 9th, 10th, and 11th graders that scored well and showed growth on CSAP last year. The 8th and 10th graders completed the Science testing on Monday. Tuesday through Thursday, our 6th- 10th graders continued testing in all the remaining areas. Kids were released at 2:20 each day. Things ran smoothly and I appreciate everybody’s flexibility and hard work throughout the week. It took a lot of work, but we made sure we got everyone tested and had the appropriate accommodations in place for all of our students.
Thursday morning I sat on the Teacher Education Interview panel for entrance into the program. It was rejuvenating to listen to young people excited about coming into the field of teaching. Friday morning I attended the principal’s meeting at Alamosa Elementary in which Bruce Caughey reviewed current issues in education.
