Focus on the Fabulous
We will be recognizing our first round of Skoglund Spotlight Students for the year this week. As part of our mission to promote excellence in our school, Skoglund Middle School is recognizing individual students whose actions have gone above and beyond the expectations of conduct through the Skoglund Spotlight Students Recognition. Students who receive this award have displayed exemplary behavior in regards to being responsible citizens, creating a positive school environment, and in acting as exceptional student leaders within our middle school community. We had a number of nominations from teachers, which was great to see. That means our students are committed to excellence in all they do, everyday! This month we will be recognizing the hard work, great behavior, and overall character of the following students: Leslie Maldonado and Yamilex Romero, both 6th grade students, and Carlos Lopez, 7th grade. These students have made positive impacts in the Center school community and have demonstrated what it means to be a Skoglund Middle School Spotlight Student.
Rewind
Monday, I spent the day reviewing lesson plans and providing feedback. I also took some time to grade academic vocabulary. Our LA teachers administered the writing assessments. I was able to get into quite a few classrooms throughout the week. We had a number of athletic events going on this past week, two cross country meets, one in South Fork and the other in San Luis. Our volleyball girls played San Luis and Del Norte. Our football team had a big win on Tuesday against Monte and then hosted Salida on Saturday. Wednesday, I spent the morning in Alamosa conducting an observation and attending our monthly AD meeting. Friday, I watched our runners compete in San Luis and then drove to Dolores to watch our high school team in action.
Fast Forward
Monday, after reviewing lesson plans I will be participating in the Ellicot Administration Partnership Meeting for most of the day. Tuesday morning I will be in Del Norte for the SLV Administration PLC. We will be conducting walkthroughs in the middle and high schools. Tuesday evening we will have our monthly DAC and BOE meetings. Wednesday I will be involved with the instructional walks that we will be holding in our buildings. Our middle school football team will play their last game on Tuesday night against Sargent. Tuesday night will be the first round of tournaments for the volleyball teams. The seventh graders will be playing at Del Norte and the 8th graders will travel to Centauri to play at 4:00 pm. The tournament will continue Friday and Saturday @ Centauri. Our cross country team will compete in the Sargent Invitational on Friday at the Monte Vista golf course.
